Early prototype for a needlessly overcomplicated weapon stats randomizing system I thought up. Heat generation and dissipation is based on a base stat. more damage means higher heat generation, but both fire rate and projectile speed reduces heat generation and speeds up cooldown. The damage taken by the target depends on both the damage and to a lesser extent the projectile speed. The audio quality is a bag of jank but the idea is good and will be iterated upon. I will redo the system so there is no conflicts between audio clips, and replace the samples with better ones. There are three sound channels for each shot. The lighter firing sound has it's pitch affected by the damage, but as damage increases, the levels of two channels for the heavier sound increases. One is more muffled and the other sharp, and depending on damage, projectile speed and fire rate, the volume ratio and pitch between these two is adjusted. Not included in this video: This prototype also has a component in which you randomize a spaceship out of different parts. Each part (nose, left wing, tail, fuselage and so on) will give the ship different stats like turn speed, thrust, system, armor, heat sink and damage boost. System affects hacking speed, heatsink affects the radius of which enemies will detect you, the ship's heatsink stat will affect your weapon's heatsink stats aswell. Your ship paired with your weapon will produce wildly different playstyles. A slow to turn tank that shrugs of damage, a fast and maneuverable glass cannon or a nearly invisible, toothless hacking ship should all be viable, (with some weird and unbalanced freaks of chance in between). The idea is that you will scan schematics during missions to unlock ship parts to choose from without randomizing, building up your library as you go until you can piece together the ship you want.
